Contact Your Local Officials
One of the best, and most traditional, ways one can get involved is by writing state senators, congress people, the Ohio Governor’s office, our state representatives and the Obama administration. As for any citizen-based request, this is a great way to make voices heard, and participate in the democratic process.

I sent the following email to all the government folks you suggested and the WNEWSJ on Dec 14th.
“Winter is setting in, in SW Ohio. In the Wilmington area thousands have lost their jobs and thousands await their DHL imposed fate. Temperatures have been colder than normal and many people will soon run out of options to heat their homes, businesses and non-profit locations.
Clinton County needs to be considered for an immediate Economic Stimulus Program. The Program would initially weatherize homes and businesses in order to save on heating and cooling expenses, lower C02 emissions and create local jobs.
Some side benefits of this Program include increase property values and an increase in government and non-profit revenue. In addition the Stimulus would give those who have lost jobs an opportunity to upgrade their skills and gain experience in evaluating and then weatherizing existing structures.
Clinton County already has the model and skills in the local area provided by the Community Action Program. An expansion of this existing weatherization program would get the Stimulus up and running quickly.”

Dear Mark,
As a Haverford grad (‘94), a life-long environmentalist, and a recent transplant to Warren, Ohio, I am thrilled to see this type of movement taking place in our state. With Warren’s economic outlook questionable, I’d like to get involved with bringing your ideas to Trumbull County.
Thanks, Erica Wentz

I was born in Wilmington (many years ago) and have always been interested in what is going in the community This is an innovative project. With the article in the DDN today, you should be receiving a lot of feedback and support. I will be keeping this project in mind and see how I can help.
