Congratulations on the Grand Opening of the site!
Also, thanks for the Political Contacts List. I haven’t scratched
more than the surface of this, but noticed that Sierra Club of Ohio,
    at http://ohio.sierraclub.org/issues/SmartEnergy.htm includes the
Public Utilities contact as potentially effective.
We’ll use today’s list for now; thanks for moving so swiftly!
    Yes we can, Alex Ives

I’m am thrilled to hear that there are more people in the world who want to come up with a solution rather than settling on the facts! i’ll second Mr. Ives comments by saying congratulations, good luck and Godspeed! I want to help out any way I can. There is no time to sit idle… Huge green banners at inauguration would be a subtle start- “Obama, ENERGIZE Clinton County, Ohio please! energizecc.com”. What an adventure! My excitement is overwhelming!

Following is my post on the DailyKos web site in response to a diary about your efforts. (I live in Miami County, OH)

I was a co-founder of the Kossack-led Energize America effort to define a strategic plan to achieve US energy independence and reduce GHG emissions 50% by 2020. I know a lot about Ohio, the green collar economy, economic development, high tech and energy issues.

I currently live in a small farming village (8 churches, 3 stoplights) in Miami County, where I’m doing everything I can to make our town and our county more energy-aware. The benefits of sustainable green collar jobs to the environment, community, companies, home owners and workers are not lost on me.

There are several opportunities available for Clinton County, ranging from the conversion of animal waste for electricity to the manufacture / integration of wind & solar to the development of core competencies in key service areas including residential energy audits, making existing structures significantly more energy efficient, etc.

One of my favorite ‘out of the box’ ideas is the cost-effective conversion of existing mobile home stock into affordable, ultra energy-efficient, semi-upscale eco-homes.

Existing stock is readily available and the quickest way to get to market (at least for proof of concept). Homes offering 800-1,400 sf homes (plus small garage) will be in HUGE demand for many, many years. I’ve been wondering how 2 mobile homes could be joined to provide just the right size (could also use 2-piece prefab home, but I’m concerned about cost and ability to scale operations). Site-built solutions just won’t scale as well from a business perspective. Ultra energy-efficiency provides compelling market value. DHL hanger & distribution facilities likely large enough to handle initial conversion requirements. Semi-upscale design is critical element to mobile home retrofit so that mass market doesn’t think of themselves as living in a trailer park (in fact, if designed correctly, eco homes can scale into truly sustainable communities).

Any existing mobile home would need to be stripped in an environmentally friendly way (or better yet, acquired in skeletal form), then re-built using the latest in energy saving technology including super insulation, LED lighting, ultra low power appliances, gray water reuse, etc. You can get a preview of what features they might include from super-cool MiniHomes, which unfortunately are way too expensive for the mass market.

Anyway, these are just some of the ideas I have. Here is my LinkedIn profile for more info.

I really like what you all are doing with this. I do want to present and option though. There is a fairly large sized campaign called Get IT Green affiliated with Ohio ITA, a very politically connected group. There is a summit on December 4th. From what I have gleaned from your website, many of the goals are the same, and the end result for both campaigns it seems is to raise “green” awareness for Ohio businesses and people. If this sounds like an acceptable idea as a merger, you can contact me on my e-mail. abhisingh1992@gmail.com or call me on my cell-phone: (513) 479-8460. Great job and keep up the work.

When so many neighbors are working together and look out for each other, Clinton County grows stronger.

President-elect Barack Obama once said, “There’s a lot of talk about our Federal deficit, when what we should be talking about is our empathy deficit.”

No empathy deficit here. Thanks for your strong, caring and responsible leadership.

Looking over the work you guys have done I am so impressed and proud to have you folks doing this work here in Ohio. I definitely hope to see you guys at Ohio Power Shift ’09 in Oberlin, your story sounds like the story of much of America right now, we’ve probably all got a lot we could learn from each other.

I’m so excited to see this kind of movement going on here.

Our family just moved here two weeks ago on little more than a whim. We have no family ties or employment obligations here and we’re contiously asked “Why Wilmington?” After our two weeks of walking around, searching for businesses to shop at and now after the discovery of this site/program we have more reasons to speak of.

Anxious to get started helping out any way we can and thankful for your site and all of the great resources.
